You have to use the Project tool and project your decimal degree data to some planar coordinate system (ie UTM State Plane etc). The values you are getting are in decimal degrees which is what a WGS84 coordinate system uses.

Just a thought, if the table is in ArcMap and you hide the fields you don't want, then export the file...do you get the results you want? If you are working with a file on disk, all fields will get exported
