Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs)

Hi there

At the Tech transfer we saw a preview of the new SLDs which are due for inclusion in 9.4 B2(?). Could the team provide any more info on what functionality these will contain and how they will integrate with Linear referencing, networks etc.

SLDs will be available in ArcGIS Production Mapping 10.  Users will be able to create an SLD based on route and event data for a single linear referencing method (LRM).  Users will have the option to create an SLD for a single route or for the entire route layer.  If the entire route layer is chosen, users can optionally display an entire route on the page or break the route into discrete pieces (e.g. 5-mile route sections).  These SLD pages will work with either Production Mapping Atlas or Data Driven Pages.

The SLD will be dynamic so that users can edit event data graphically within either the SLD or the map view.  Edits made in the map view will automatically propagate to the SLD and vice verse.
