Hello All:
I'm looking to create a Story Map using the wipe feature to show before and after maps of a Seattle haz waste remediation. Images of the clean up from Google Maps are attached. What base maps can/should I use to show this change?
Thanks,
Sean Smith
Hi Sean,
Can you give a little more detail on to what you are wanting? Are you going to publish each of those images in the same geolocation and then perform a swipe between the two images? If that is the case, then the basemap does not really matter. You could toy around with different basemaps to see how they look below the images.
You may also want to post this in the Story Maps place for greater visibility as well.

Yes, I'm hoping to use the wipe function to show the before and after results of hazardous waste clean up. You mention publishing the images with the same geolocation as a way to do this. I'm unfamiliar with how to publish the images to the base map. Is there guidance or a YouTube on the process?
I'll post this question to "Story Maps" as well.
Sean
Sean,
I was thinking if you had these two raster images and they were georeferenced in the correct spot, then you could just publish those images to the web:
Publish hosted feature layers—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS
Then you could load the basemap, which would act as a separate layer and go under the published layers. Is that not what you were thinking?
