Hello to all.  I hope I am not the only one who is testing the parcel editor toolbar.  I have a few real problems to try to figure out before this product becomes very useful to me.

1.  I have had a lot of problems when editing parcels where duplicate lines appear in the parcel construction window.  For instance, I will create a parcel or group of parcels in the parcel construction window as part of a "plan."  When I reopen them to edit some of the lines, each of the lines will be entered multiple times.  This doesn't happen every time, but enough times to be a real problem.  No matter how many times you delete the duplicates, they keep coming back, and even multiplying.

2.  Another thing I am trying to figure out, is how to construct from parent, if the new parcel needs to split an arc border.  In other words, it needs to be split along the arc at a certain arc length.  Standard editing tools aren't available, just the parcel editor set of tools.  I think the "Breakline tool" that is in the documentation would do this, but I cannot figure out how to get to that tool while editing a parcel fabric.

I have a few other minor things to figure out, but if I could get help addressing these issues first, I can visit the others later.

By the way, I am using Arc SDE personal on a SQL express Geodatabase in ArcGIS 10 pre-release.

If you right-click on a parcel in the "Parcel Explorer" and select "Construct  from parent" the tools on the "Parcel Details" window should become the active.  The "Construction Tool" is selected by default.  Just right-click on the line you want to break and select "Breakline...".  The tools places a temporary point.  The line is not really broken until you build the parcels.

jmallison:  Any reason why "breakline" would not be enabled while doing said process?

Thanks!

Trust me you are not the only one working with the parcel fabric or the parcel editor tool bar.  I've been working with the Parcel Editor toolbar for around 6 months or so now, and yes the breakline tool would be the appropriate tool for breaking that arc at a specific distance.  Keep in mind, however, that you cannot create a linepoint along that arc so when you join the parcel, you will not be able to connect that point to the arc.  I'm not sure about the duplicate lines issue, i've never come accross that.  You can e-mail or call me if you wish to speak personally.

With respect to the duplicate lines issue:  Are you using one of the map templates?  By default it may be set up to use a definition query to manage history on your lines.  It appears that the history tab found in the fabric properties only manages the display of parcel polys for now.  So check and see if there is a def query on the lines and that your lines are coded properly.  If you are not using a template then you may need to create a DQ that says something like: "(SystemEndDate IS NULL)" or "("Historical" = 0)"
