Hello,

in nearly all my mxds I have incorporated WMS-services. When one of these services is down for some reason, I have difficulties opening the mxd. One work-around is to shut down the internet temporarily and then open my mxd.

Does anybody know if there is another way to easily open the mxd in the case that some incorporated WMS-services fail?
For example, is it possible to add a WMS connection to a mxd document, but disable the connection untill you really need it?

Thanks for your responds.

kind regards,

Uncheck the WMS layer visibility and save the map document. When you reopen the document it will not try connect to the service until you make the layer visible again.

Thanks for your respond. You mean just uncheck the box before the layer name in the table of contents?
It is difficult to try this right now, as all the WMS-services are working. But thanks!
