It is becoming popular with our designers and drafter to ask for the point cloud. However, they need it in the AutoCAD Recap (.rcp) format. DroneDeploy has Recap file type as an export option.

There are no tools within ArcGIS Pro that will convert a LAS file to ReCap either. The convert LAS file is only to zip or unzip them.

Hi Angela,

Autodesk Recap actually has a free version hidden within the Pro version that activates after the 30 day trial ends. I believe it does require you to keep it updated to the latest version but it will also allow you to import las files which converts them to rcs files. Here's a link from Autodesk detailing that behaviour: Differences between Recap and Recap Pro

Recap also has a command line tool that is installed with the main package that is run via decap.exe (Autodesk ReCap Help | About the DeCap Command-Line Tool | Autodesk). You could definitely create a python toolbox to parse input las files and run the command line tool for you.

Cheers,

James
