I am trying to have separators show on my addin toolbars of which I created through the pythonaddin assistant.  However I modify the config.xml to include separator="True" (See Below). Then rebuild the .esriaddin and when ArcMap is opened the toolbar shows up but without the separators on.

Anyone have any ideas?

I don't think you can do it, there is nothing in the desktop help that indicates that separator is an attribute of a Button. Your question was asked over 2 years ago here. Apparently nobody in the whole of ESRI is able to answer this question...
