How to make the label/layer names and headings invisible in the legend using arcpy in arcgis pro 1.4?

I am trying to only show the legend title and the symbology of a layer when creating it using arcpy. I have tried to set the labels and headings to invisible before running my script, but it doesn't save the settings. In the script I can't do a lot with the legend except setting the title. Can anyone help me out?

mp.legendelement is in that link and perhaps the textelement might be useful.  You might have to show the script to see what you are doing exactly
