After making a copy of a folder using python in arcgis desktop, i want to open the contents of the folder onto the map. Any way to do this?

using ArcGIS desktop. I have already coded making the copy, and now trying to make changes to the attribute tables of some layers, but I am getting an error that I think is because these layers aren't open on the map, just the original copy. Looking for any advice please.
