Hi all,

When I tried to overwrite an existing service on ArcGIS Server (not federated with portal), I got an error saying it failed. When I went on Server Manager, I can see the original service was stopped, and another service with the same name plus a timestamp, <service name>_202502251603, was created. It seems like the overwrite went wrong at some point and created this new service.

When I click into the original service, it now points to <service name>_202502251603 page. In server directories, I can see one folder named <service name> and another one named <service name>_202502251603.

I went ahead and deleted service <service name>_202502251603. I can see the folder with the same name gone in the back end. But now I can't delete the original service. When I click into the service in Server Manager, there is nothing showing up. There is no General, Parameters, Capabilities tab, etc. Just blank. It seems like there is no connection between this service and its folder in the back end.

When I click on Start, it throws below error. I then tried renaming the folder in config-store and directories to match up with this. It then throws another error saying Service configuration '<service name>.MapServer' was not found.

Does anyone know how to repair the connection and/or how to properly delete this service? It wouldn't let me delete it in the Server Manager. It just spins and spins. I guess it can't find its underlying folders.

Thanks!

Margo
