Hi, I've been reading up on the relatively new Oriented Imagery layer (https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis/imagery/introducing-oriented-imagery/).

I was looking for some tutorial but I cannot find it (even on learn.arcgis). Is there a tutorial somewhere?

learn.arcgis only has the Oriented Imagery Classic one, using ArcGIS Quickcapture and Oriented Imagery catalog (https://learn.arcgis.com/en/projects/inspect-assets-with-oriented-images/).

There is documentation documentation (https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/imagery/oriented-imagery-overview.htm) but it does not go into the prerequisites and step-by-step details.

The closest working demo/tutorial for the new Oriented Imagery I could find was ArcGIS Maps Javascript SDK. But these do not have 360 view, which I suspect is possibly because the raw data doesn't support. Unclear.

As an aside, can anyone get this gallery items (https://www.arcgis.com/home/group.html?id=456b8d7d8f8f4e45932ec20ddda8ab67#overview) to work? When I open "Vilnius, Lithuania (360 images)" in Map Viewer on ArcGIS Online, I dont see the option to use the Oriented Imagery tool on the right? Am I missing some license to use it?

My understanding is that I should be able to see it on the right toolbar, similar to below.

@blahboot If you want a very simplified crash course, check out this video and sample dataset I pulled together. It might not answer all of your questions, but hopefully it'll help get you started!

@blahboot, in the Map Viewer, expand the Vilnius, Lithuania (360 images) group layer on the left and select the VilniusCity 360 layer. Then, the Oriented Imagery button will appear.

What type of images do you have that you want to work with? Do they have XY coordinates as well as a directional heading? Most cell phones capture this information now-a-days; drones too!

Client is not specific on what type of images they want to work with yet. Still in the ideation phase. I suspect it could be handphone images (e.g. panoramic) or possibly images from ground patrol robots or survey-grade laser scanner.

I'll check that the images come with orientation parameters

Hi,

I understand you are looking for a new tutorial to show the new workflow for working with Oriented Imagery Layers. From my understanding, there is not currently a new tutorial but there is supporting blog posts and documentation.

In regards to your gallery item concerns, Eric answered correctly. Just ensure you have the OI layer selected with you map then you should be able to select the OI tool and the viewer window will appear. Select an exposure point on the map to get the image to pop up in the viewer.

If you have any further questions about Oriented Imagery feel free to message me.
