Hi Esri Community Members,
Introducing the new ModelBuilder Product Place
We're excited to announce a new Community Place (under the products section) for ModelBuilder launching next week. After having internal discussions with Esri’s ModelBuilder team, we concluded it would be most beneficial to have this Place be monitored and managed by Esri staff. This will give staff the opportunity to share ModelBuilder information, updates, workflows, best practices, tips, and tricks, and use case documents.
What’s the difference between the ModelBuilder User Group vs. the Place?
A Place in Esri Community is designed for Esri products, industries, services, programs, or Esri sponsored initiatives.
What does this mean for the ModelBuilder User Group?
First, we want to thank @curtvprice for creating and owning this User Group starting in 2014. It has been an invaluable resource for ModelBuilder discussions and questions and has remained extremely active over the years. Our plan is to migrate the top viewed posts, and the posts from the past year into the new Place. All remaining content will be archived but if requested, we have the ability to unarchive posts so that the public can view them again.
Migrating the content from the ModelBuilder User Group to a Place has some advantages. In addition to the ModelBuilder User Group features, members can now post Ideas, and Place Managers can post Events in the ModelBuilder Place. We’ve also added labels to the Boards which help categorize questions, blogs, ideas, and documents based on the themes or content in a post. Lastly, the search for the Place on Esri Community is streamlined as users can effortlessly locate it under the "products" category for easy navigation.
What if I need a post that has been archived?
If you land on a page that indicates the post has been archived, send an email to esricommunity@esri.com with the link and we’ll move it into the ModelBuilder Place and in public view.
Here’s a few handy resources to help you navigate the new Place once it’s launched:
We appreciate your understanding and are looking forward to continued engagement and collaboration in the new ModelBuilder Place!
For more information and/or insights on what’s to come to the new Place @ShitijMehta, the Place Manager, can provide further details.
If you have questions on the migration, please feel free to reach out to myself or @MichelleMathias.
Update: We will be moving all the posts in this group to the new place today (Wed. 6/28/23), and decommissioning this group. After the posts are moved the place managers can identify ones they would like to archive, if any.
Also, we will be adding a re-direct from the group to the new place.
This looks fantastic! What a great opportunity to put old content (often concerning old functionality or bugs long fixed) out of the way and move forward. Thank you ModelBuilder team, esp @ShitijMehta for taking this step!
@curtvprice Thank You!
We are late, but we are here now.
Tell us about all the bugs and problems - We are listening!
