I've been a mapmaker for decades, primarily working in Autocad Map. My wife is currently helping me learn ArcGIS now that she's been using it full time for the past decade. Her specialty though has only focused on 2 of the extensions available, and so she's using this opportunity to expand her knowledge of what Arc offers beyond her day job.
We've reached the stage in our life where we want to make a map the way we want it to look, so for fun we're creating a database from scratch of our home county. Yes, our hobby has become creating a GIS road database in order to make our own wall map of the county! 🙂
So, hello all, and just curious if there's others out there in the community who are just tinkering with a 'passion' map project, or if everyone here is solely here for their work.
Welcome to the Community @CartoMouse we are glad to have you join us.
Exciting to hear that you are learning ArcGIS to make a map of your home county. I am sure others in the community would be interested to see the results when you're ready to share.
