Where do you work and what is your role?

Hi, my name is Muhammad Ali and i am from Pakistan. Currently i am working as a GIS Developer in Oman, contracting in Oil and Gas company.

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)

This year i have been working with Linear Referencing and implementation of PODS data model. Other then that mostly providing general GIS Support, Arcpy Scripting, Portal Administration.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

I have done BE-GeoInformatics and then MS in Remote Sensing and GIS from NUST Pakistan. After that i worked in a GIS providing company in Pakistan and Saudi Arab. Mainly i have worked as a Geospatial developer. I am willing to help in ArcObjects (SOE, Addins, Extensions), ArcGIS Runtime(Desktop Applications), ArcPy(Tools and Data modeling scripts), ArcGIS Portal Administration, ArcGIS extensions(Network Analyst, Utility Analyst etc). Fiber data model, electric data model, Pipeline data model.

Where do you work and what is your role? 

I'm Lisa Fulton (MS & GISP) and I currently work in Macon, Georgia as a Senior GIS Analyst at an engineering firm.  We are working with cities for their local government GIS needs.  I've worked in GIS for over 10 years for private and public sector organizations. I'm hoping to move forward to a coordinator, developer or GIS dba role in the next couple years.  I'm also an online adjunct instructor for SNHU (GIS and Geography courses).

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)

Most recently, as a result of my move from a regional government to the private world, I learned and transitioned to using ArcGIS Pro as my main program.  I still use ArcMap for some tasks but will revert back to Pro as often as I can.  In my previous role as a GIS Analyst at a Georgia regional commission, I coordinated the LUCA effort for the coastal region, completing those efforts under the required timeline with various types of data (and quality).  Myself and a colleague also simplified and condensed a complicated Hazus workflow (using tax data) for the rest of the state of Georgia.  Most staff times were reduced by 40%.  My personal favorite projects usually involve disaster risk and assessment.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

I've gained quite a bit of expertise in working with people and how they prefer to interact with mapping and data.  My biggest goal in any project is to make it seamless.  I'd like the data to serve their purpose and the solutions to just work and live.  One of the projects I've worked on in the past required data and a workflow that minimized errors with the syncing process.  Once I had their requirements down, they experienced very few errors.  I've loved working with local governments and especially public safety!  My fiance and I share expertise in GIS (his background started in forestry).  He serves as a volunteer firefighter, AEMT, and instructor.

Where do you work and what is your role?

My name is Tom York and I work for Creston Environmental LLC located in Harrisburg, PA. My title is GIS Manager. For the past 8+ years I have created maps showing groundwater contours and chemical concentration maps of monitoring wells as well as field maps for use in natural gas drilling in the Marcellus, Utica, Anadarko, Permian, Niobrara and Bakken shale plays. 

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use?

My success this year was starting my new path at Creston Environmental LLC in February, 2019. I went from being a GIS Analyst at Leidos with 2 others that I could turn to for help and guidance to being the GIS Manager and sole GIS staff person at Creston. It was a huge leap for me to step out of my comfort zone of having co-workers and a supervisor I could lean on for help to being the person in charge of everything. Setting up everything from scratch and having to hit the ground running proved that I could do it! I use the desktop version of Arc, version 10.7 and in my spare time, I am learning Pro. My goal for the next year is to begin learning HTML and Python.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

With 8 years of experience creating maps for the Oil and Gas industry, I feel my expertise is in finding various types of data on the Web. I routinely need to find potable and gas well data, parcel data and ownership information for many states across the US. I'm also a stickler for attention to detail as pointed out in my yearly reviews at Leidos!

Where do you work and what is your role?: Hi I am Mark, I work for Martin County Utilities and Solid Waste as a GIS Specialist. My current role is to add new edit existing utilities that go into the ground especially water mains / laterals and sewer mains / laterals.

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds): An opportunity to show my expertise by printing very large maps of our current utility networks and display them for all to look at and gather knowledge about our hydrological environment within the county. Not many contest to be won or lost in my community except for the ability to utilize my utility model for environmental situational awareness.  The products I use are ArcMap 10.5, ArcPro, Arc Collector, Survey 123.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?: Force Protection Antiterrorism U.S. Army 24+ years, never had the experience to utilize any of Esri's software products to do my job. I always knew there was a better way. Upon retirement, attended college WKU and here I am working at MCUSD.

Where do you work and what is your role?

I work in a special needs school as a teacher. So not currently related to GIS but am preparing for a MSc in Hydrography next year and getting to grips with ArcGis and other available tools in advance. 

What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)

My GIS success this year was creating a map showing the locations of all the known shipwrecks within the Irish Maratime Boundary, along with a Bathymetry layer to show the approximate depths.

What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?

My expertise are in teaching although I'm on the beginning of this particular journey so in the future I hope to be able to contribute to the community be helping others through the same process I'm going through now.
