We have just published Warsaw University of Life Sciences map in Community Maps Program. To  be honest I'm not satisfied with the quality of tiles generated by caching process. In my opinion the resolution of raster you suggest is to low (96 DPI as I remember). When I compare my rasters to Campus in Prague (Czech Republic) it looks really bad. Can you explain (help) how to improve the quality? There are also differences in colours and shadow size. Are there different campus templates?

Please compare:

Hey Michal,

To turn anti-aliasing on you need to do the following:

Share your map as a service which you've done obviously.
And then select the parameters tab on the left hand side where you can specify anti-aliasing to be "Best" and "Force". (See the attached screenshot)

Generally these two options render the best results.

Hope this works,

Nelson

Hello Michal. Please check to be sure that anti-aliasing was applied when you ran the cache. This is the most common issue we see affecting tile quality. Please contact us at communitymaps@esri.com for further information, if needed.

Your answer is clear but I can't find this option in ArcGIS 10.1. I have just recreated tiles in 10.1 and it looks even worse than 10.
To be honest you should prepare new manual for caching in 10.1 version because in short time it may occur as common problem.

The settings for anti-aliasing in 10.1 are found in the properties of the service. Typically these are set when publishing a service through that wizard in ArcMap, or one can set them in the service properties dialog (catalog or via server manager) after a service has been created.

Soon, however, there will no longer be a need for participants to cache before submitting their maps. Please see our blog explaining the upcoming changes to the Community Maps Program. Our online Help will soon be updated to reflect these changes.
