Hello,

I have a bunch of line features with characters embedded in their symbology. None of the characters will print. I also tried exporting to any format (pdf, tif, jpg etc.) none of the characters are shown. I've tried all compression/vector graphics settings etc. Any remedy for this?

You might try, if you haven't already the following.  The last is just off the top of my head and might easily be dismissed.

1. checking embed all document fonts in the pdf dialog box
2. using representations
3. moving your line feature down in the TOC and then applying just a bit of transparency so it gets rasterized
4. exporting to AI and working with your map there or in the free Inkscape.
5. printing to pdf using a pdf print driver
6. perhaps finding a way to convert your line symbols to markers or pictures.

Thanks for your input - my results:

1. checking embed all document fonts in the pdf dialog box
---Tried this, no effect
2. using representations
---not wure what this means?
3. moving your line feature down in the TOC and then applying just a bit of transparency so it gets rasterized
---This works with 5% transp. with no apparent degradation - and doesn't seem to matter where on TOC the layer is.
4. exporting to AI and working with your map there or in the free Inkscape.
---not usre wht AI or Inkscape is- I probably don't have either
5. printing to pdf using a pdf print driver
---This works, though other problems associated - i.e. rasters not printed in their entirety
6. perhaps finding a way to convert your line symbols to markers or pictures.
---tried converting features to graphics, this did not work.

#3 is the most feasable workaround, I'll keep this in mind until (if) this issue is addressed.
Thanks!
