Does ArcScene support gradient fill symbols?

All,

I am using ArcScene 10.2.2 to map data for the Africa sub-sahara. In ArcMap I created a buffer around the coastline of Africa and set this to a gradient fill that gives the map a pleasing effect. This same layer when copied into ArcScene just goes to a solid blue fill as shown below even though the legend shows it as gradient fill.

I've looked at the help, crashed around in GeoNet and fiddled around with settings but I cannot get ArcScene to display this polygon layer as a nice gradient fill.

So my question to ESRI is does ArcScene actually support gradient fills, I guess the answer will be no but I cannot find any documentation that states it does or it does not.
