Hello all,

I'm using ArcEditor 10.1, SP1. Why in the world are we not able to make the outlines of the character marker symbols (like "octagon 2", for example) thicker? The outline of all of those symbols is way too thin and there's no easy way to make them thicker. Does anyone have a work around? I have come up with one - add another symbol that's solid black beneath it and work to get the sizes right so it looks like a thicker outline. But if anyone has a better work around I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

Because it is a glyph of a text or display font in your system's font folder.

However, simple markers allow you to edit the thickness of the outline.

The selection is not large, but if you do not want to create your own custom font, or custom marker, that is your best option.

If you'd like to venture into creating your own marker, see this link.

All the best!

Ok thanks for an explanation. I got a trial of Adobe Illustrator and retrieved some knowledge in my brain from 10 years ago and was able to create what I needed and export as emf. 🙂

Thanks,
