Hello all, and happy new year 2026!

As more of our customers transition to LocalMaps v3.x, we’ve heard a common request: updated learning materials—especially on Reporting. Our team presented at the NZ EUC 2025 Breakfast Session, focusing on data sources, reporting improvements, and system integrations. We’re excited to share these presentations more broadly to support you in configuring your new LocalMaps 3.2x instance.

1. Bringing External Data into LocalMaps

In the session, James demonstrated how LocalMaps 3.2 extends and strengthens the data source model across the platform. Administrators now have much more granular control over what is publicly visible and what requires authentication. Within the LocalMaps Administrator panel, each data source can be configured as Public or Secure, visually indicated using colour coding:
  • Green = Public
  • Blue = Secure (sign-in required)
LocalMaps 3.2x automatically applies the same public/secure status to any reports, feature queries and query parameters that depend on a given data source:
  • If a report or feature query uses even one secure data source, the entire item becomes secure and displays a blue, padlocked indicator.
  • This ensures private data can’t be exposed accidentally.
This consistent public/private model across data sources, reports, query parameters and feature queries gives administrators clearer visibility and better control while providing users with a predictable, safe experience. Watch how data sources work in 3.2x here -

2. Reporting in LocalMaps 3.2: Templates, Full Page Maps & a More Powerful Editor

Reporting capabilities in LocalMaps 3.2 have taken a significant leap forward—now fully on par with LocalMaps 2, and in many areas, surpassing it. In her demo, Olivia showcased how to build a real-world utility report using the upgraded Report Editor. Key enhancements include:
  • Multi-section report structures
  • Full page maps
  • Microsoft Word–based report templates
  • More flexible layout and formatting tools

The examples shown by Olivia highlight how LocalMaps 3.2 enables the creation of polished, professional, data driven reports—from hazard assessments to asset snapshots—with far greater flexibility and ease.

3. Integrating LocalMaps with your systems and workflows

In the final demo, Logan demonstrated how LocalMaps can integrate seamlessly with external systems—such as SharePoint, an intranet, or other web-based tools—using predictable links and query parameters. With just a small amount of configuration, users can:
  • Move from LocalMaps into other systems, landing on the right SharePoint page or folder
  • Move back into LocalMaps, returning to the exact property or feature they were viewing

This lightweight integration pattern doesn’t require plugins, APIs, or complex setup—just smart, predictable URLs. It’s a practical way to create a unified experience across organisational tools and give staff quicker access to contextual property or asset information. Watch the demonstration here -
