iPAD and tablet problems with Arc GIS lesson

Today, I gave my 6th-grade students a handout of a lesson that I had written.  It was a combination of "this is how you..." and, "explore on your own".

The students with the iPADs couldn't stay in ArcGIS Online; they kept getting kicked out.

One student with a tablet did not have the "add layer" (+ sign on yellow polygon) tool.

The students with tablets were able to work in ArcGIS Online without any trouble.

Can anyone advise me on this?

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the app's?  This may help settle the issues down.  It could have been a bad install.  Also, from the web site are you using iOS 5.0 or later.  ArcGIS on the App Store

The students go to ArcGIS online.  We don't use an app.

I don't know about the IOS version.

These are school iPADs.

Go to the Settings Icon, then select Settings, General and record the version ie mine is 9.2.1

Della, see troubleshooting in the ArcGIS Online help Troubleshoot—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS   I don't see anything specific, but something with regard to you account settings may ring a bell
