Spotlight Talk: Prioritizing Activities: Where to Start

Gathering up a long list of activities/projects/tasks can be surprisingly easy - this was reinforced by many people I spoke to at UC 2019 who had long lists, but didn't know where to start. It can be challenging to prioritize and sequence that list so your organization realizes early and continuous value from your work. This spotlight talk focused on the Esri best practice entitled "Prioritization Approach" that is available as part of the "Architecting the ArcGIS Platform: Best Practices" document. This is a simple approach that balances business value with ease of launch. Items on your list that are easy and valuable to the organization should be prioritized and delivered with a cadence that matches your organizations appetite for new capabilities. Items that are valuable but challenging should be more carefully planned and delivered on an appropriate timeline. If any high value, challenging items are prerequisites to the easier items, adjust the sequence and focus more resources on the prerequisites. The idea is to deliver value to the organization as quickly and steadily as possible. If you have any questions or need further assistance, contact Esri's Global Architecture Team using the address provided in the document.
