I am trying to access Arcgis Pro for student use and running into all sorts of issues. Using a named user license we cannot even log in to the program with out Admin privileges (not happening in our district); trying to use a single user license we cannot connect to arcgis due to a connection error. Has anyone else run into this roadblock? If so how did you rectify the issues?

We have been working with a district tech person and a tech support person from esri. SO far we are at a standstill.

Beth,

Can you elaborate on your issue?  When you attempt to log in using the Named User option, what exactly is occurring.  Can you provide more detail?  Also, with Single Use licensing option.  Were you able to start Pro?  If so, what do you mean when you can't connect to arcgis?  Are you trying to connect to www.arcgis.com?  What is the error you're getting?

Here is a screen shot of the message we receive for single user.

It looks like you're trying to make a connection to your organization in ArcGIS Online (AGOL).  This is likely the reason why you're not able to use the Named User licensing option.  The ArcGIS Pro AGOL sign-in dialogue uses Internet Explorer setting to display.  Open your Internet Explorer and go to www.arcgis.com.  You will likely get the same issue.  Try adding it to the trusted site for Internet Explorer or Edge depending on your system.  If you can load www.arcgis.com, you should be able to display the Pro Named User login dialogue.  You might also have to the add the URL address to your AGOL organization as one of the trusted sites.

We have tried to change the urls, we have tried to white list certain urls

and now we are trying to change some license over to single use but so far

we have not had any success.

You mentioned it in your description.  The issue isn't licensing.  It's connecting to your AGOL organization.  You need to white list https://www.arcgis.com in Internet Explorer.  If you're able to load https://www.arcgis.com in Internet Explorer, you should be able to access it in ArcGIS Pro.  If you are unable to load the site in Internet Explorer, what error are you getting?

We are able to get the program to start but once I try to log in I get the

following error. We have tried to white list arcgis but that does not work.

Hi Beth,

By looking at the error message, I think the URL you try to connect is not correct.

The correct URL path is:  https://sycamorehs.maps.arcgis.com/      (without www).

Try to fix it and let's see if it works.

Hope this helps.

The program will initialize but will not let me sign in. If I ask a

district admin to sign into into the specific laptop as a district

administrator then the program will work. However neither myself (teacher)

or a student will be given district administrative privileges. We can log

into a machine as a student but not as an administrator.

Beth,

Open your Internet Explorer and load https://www.sycamorehs.maps.arcgis.com.  You will likely not be able to load based on your issue.  White list this site.  If you're able to load it afterward, it will route to https://www.arcgis.com/home/index.html so you can log into AGOL.  Once logged it, it will route to your personal organization within AGOL, https://www.sycamorehs.maps.arcgis.com.  Again, you're not able to connect to this site because the security feature in your Internet Explorer prevents you from accessing the site.
