Uploading Service Definition - unable to publish web map

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to upload my map from ArcGIS Pro 3.4.3 to ArcGIS Online. It contains a custom basemap, and a polygon feature class with 435 polygons, around 1 Gb when exported as a shapefile.  Ideally I don't want to decrease the size or change the symbology of that layer. For some unknown reason, every time I try to use the Share as Web Map option on the sharing tab, it hangs every time at Uploading Service Definition, with no error message, just stuck on that stage for up to 3 hours so far.

I have tried the following fixes:

- Logging in and out of AGOL on browser and ArcGIS Pro, with no success. AGOL still works as normal.

- Making the shapefile smaller by uploading only a few features, with no success

- Simplifying the polygons, no success and this is not an ideal fix

- Creating an entirely new feature class with one polygon and uploading as web layer - this worked, but is much smaller than the file I want to upload

- Restarting

- Closing and reopening ArcGIS Pro

Does anybody have any tips on how to get past the Uploading service definition stage please? Is there a file size limit (although this is fairly small in the grand scheme of things)?

Thank you for your help.
