Hi all

As most of you now know, the official release of ArcGIS Pro v1 has been released, however there are not many/any additions to the layouts, which I would have liked included, that I can see. The interfacing of both the view and layout is nicely set out with the ribbons etc, and far more emphasis is now being placed on naming your elements within your view and layouts. However without simple items like guide lines, graticule grids etc. for the layout, it makes map outputs far more difficult and less attractive/useful than ArcGIS.

Once I have more use of it, I will update again, however currently, for me, it is not going to be my primary ESRI software, which I was hoping it would. Perhaps this is a strategy of ESRI to not have too many people migrate too quickly from ArcGIS and therefore allow slow integration and also error finding.

For the 1.1 release of ArcGIS Pro we are adding Rulers, Guides and Layout Snapping.  This should help with aligning elements and setting up your layouts.  This is available to start playing with at Beta 1.

In addition to Rulers and Guides, version 1.1 (planned for June) will include Extent Indicators and some additional metadata dynamic text. The big new thing for ArcGIS Pro at 1.1 is .NET SDK that will give you additional options for automating the sorts of things you do with layouts.

Hi Dave

Thanks very much for the update. I am glad there is nice progress going on with the Pro development. I have been making more use of it of late and finding it quite simple and easy to use.

Hopefully graticules will also be included in this update or in the near future.
