The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado in Boulder has an immediate opening for a Professional Research Assistant, GIS Analyst supporting NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO. As a GIS analyst, the successful candidate will work to develop and maintain many of NCEI's geospatial web services, interactive mapping applications, and other cartographic products. They will use strong skills in GIS software and analysis techniques to produce a variety of geospatial products and maps. They will also apply software engineering best-practices to implement code driving interactive mapping applications, geospatial data processing, and map production. This position includes collaborating and communicating with various groups at NCEI and other NOAA offices, ensuring the geospatial web services and interactive maps meet the technical requirements of the projects and are properly implemented to ensure NCEI's data are discoverable and accessible by a wide variety of end-users. This position can accommodate a fully remote or hybrid work modality at the discretion of the supervisor.
