Hi All,

Happy GIS Day 2025!  This year, we're celebrating the powerful fusion of GIS and AI that's taking mapping and spatial analysis to the next level. The synergy between these technologies is creating a world where data isn't just displayed—it's predicted, automated, and understood in ways we never thought possible.
How is AI transforming GIS?
  • Predictive Analytics: AI models analyze historical and real-time geospatial data to forecast future trends. This allows urban planners to anticipate traffic congestion, and disaster management teams to predict flood risk.
  • Automated Feature Extraction: Tedious manual tasks are being automated. AI can instantly detect and map objects like buildings, roads, and power lines from satellite and aerial imagery, dramatically speeding up workflows.
  • Enhanced Environmental Monitoring: AI-powered GIS helps environmentalists track everything from deforestation and climate change effects to wildlife habitats with greater speed and accuracy.
  • Intelligent Assistants: Conversational AI is making GIS more accessible than ever. It allows users to ask questions in plain language, creating surveys or generating maps with simple prompts.
On this #GISDay2025, let's recognize the innovators pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The future of spatial intelligence is here, and it's powered by AI!

Thanks for sharing your insights, @VenkataKondepati! I definitely agree that AI is a powerful tool to empower and explore the use of GIS. How are you planning to celebrate GIS Day this year?

Thanks, @BriannaEttley.

GIS Day is always special for me. This year I’m planning to celebrate by sharing a couple of my favorite GIS success stories with my team and on LinkedIn especially how AI is reshaping spatial analysis. I’ll also take the time to connect with colleagues and the broader community, reflecting on how far GIS has come and where it’s heading.

For me, GIS Day is about both education and inspiration, helping others see how geography and technology come together to solve real-world problems.

How about you? does the Esri Community team have anything special planned this year?

Regards,

Venkat

That's a great plan, @VenkataKondepati! We'd love to hear how the event turns out, and of course, feel free to share any pictures you'd like to include in your post!

For GIS Day, we use this forum to celebrate by helping others share experiences and connect users who also recognize GIS Day. As we approach GIS Day, I will be posting engaging prompts and activities to this forum to encourage everyone to take a break from work and participate in some fun ice breakers for GIS Day. There are numerous ways to celebrate GIS Day, along with a wealth of resources compiled by our GIS Day team. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the exciting and free activities available on the GIS Day website. I'm really looking forward to celebrating this day, and thank you for being the first member to post in this forum! (I hope you noticed the cool badge added to your profile 🙂).
