GeoPlan 1.0: A Megaevent for GISers in Bangladesh

Good day, everyone! Today I am going to introduce you to the country's first GIS megaevent: 'GeoPlan 1.0', organized by RUET GIS Club, which is the first GIS-related club in Bangladesh. This event will be held at the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi, Bangladesh, on November 28, 2025. 

Key Segments:

• Key Notespeeches & Workshops  

Inspiring talks and hands-on sessions by experts to enhance our GIS knowledge, industry insights, and technical skills.

• National GIS Competition: “GeoArena”

A state-of-the-art challenge for students nationwide to solve real-world problems using GIS tools and spatial analysis.

• Cartography Competition: “Mapathon”

A great opportunity for creative map-making to demonstrate visualization, and design.

• Poster Competition

A platform to display research, projects, case studies or innovative ideas in geospatial science for peer and expert review.

• Photography Competition

Capture spatial, environmental, or urban themes through the lens for storytelling impact.

• Documentary Competition

Showcase short films highlighting GIS applications, environmental issues, urban planning or multidisciplinary domains and solutions.

In GeoArena, participants will be asked to solve a case study, such as determining flood susceptibility or optimal landfill location, within a fixed time frame (e.g., one or two hours). Required resources, such as shapefiles and Excel sheets, will be provided before the contest starts. After this, their work will be evaluated and prizes will be announced.
