Hi Everyone!

Greetings from New Mexico, USA!

For this year, I've sent out an event reminder and suggested our team bring snacks or coordinate to make a potluck on GIS Day! It'll be on a Wednesday in the midst of an autumn week, and what better than a fall time snack potluck to celebrate the field we're in and the work we do with food? Doesn't have to be big since many people will be busy with work in the middle of the week, but it'll be an opportunity to find a few minutes to grab some fall time treats or a share a hot meal with friends; and it's something GIS professionals can all agree is a great event to join or host to celebrate with. I'd highly recommend considering a food or potluck event this year for those wanting to plan for GIS day. Making maps can be hard work and food to feed the work is key. We've done this for GIS Days and for other occasions, it's a great team building event, or just a chance to get up and enjoy a meal with a coworker to get a break from a busy day and joke about Lord of the Rings or Maps or both! Tolkien wisely started with a map, and having a GIS Second Breakfast is my wise choice for this year's celebration! XD

  • “If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world” - JRR Tolkien; great lore-smith, storyteller, and fellow cartographer and map maker of Middle Earth and Arda.

Happy GIS Day Everyone,

Fellow New Mexican here, recognize that we often have to put USA in our posts so folks know we aren't a different country.

🤣

Food always helps folks show up for sure. Nicely done.

GIS - Getting it Surveyed is too expensive.
