Model builder issues

I have a model that was built several years ago. It is a model that only gets used once a year, but I haven't had any problems until now. Now, when I try to run the model, it takes forever to update one of the tools inside the model. If I save the model, it literally takes 10-15 minutes to save and in some cases when I open ArcMap back up the model has a bright red X through it.

Anybody have any issues in using a model created in 9.3 and now being able to use it in 10? Any thoughts on what might be causing this to be extremely slow?

I have also had some ModelBuilder speed issues when using old models in 10.  Have you tried making a new toolbox and saving the model in that?  Also some tools have changed, which may be causing your red X problems (I've also had this)--  e.g. no more Single Output Map algebra...

Do you have iterations or other processes in use that have also changed in 10?
