I am using the 'extract by rectangle' tool in spatial analyst to extract portions of a large four-band raster. The size of the raster file is several gigabytes and the area to be extracted is about 0.05% the size of the original. This takes an extremely long time to process. Equivalently, I found that zooming to the extraction area, then right-clicking the layer, and exporting the data by spatial extent works very quickly. I need to batch the process for multiple files so both methods are impractical.
Am I missing something? Is there another approach I should be using?
