I know, long tittle, but thats what I'm trying to do. Anybody got any ideas. What I am trying to do is very simple in ArcMap just start editting the Layer you want the data to end up in, select data you want to be copied, hit copy button, make sure your edditing the write layer and then hit paste button and boom you have Copied parcels from one layer into an existing parcels layer, but how do I do that in model builder?

Thanks,
mt

I am working with the same issue right now, I have a call into ESRI support but they did not know how to accomplish this easily.

What I am trying to do is copy between Manholes and an Abandoned Sanitary point layer, both in SDE, both versioned. Then once the features are copied, delete the selected manholes.

It would seem model builder would have a way to easily do this but what I am seeing is that when trying to choose an output featureclass it does not look at the map layers it expects you to put this somewhere other than your current workspace.

I am by no means an expert with model builder so if you find a way to do this let me know and I will do the same. It is truly a shame VBA will eventually be going away, this would have been easy to write, but given the fact that VBA is going away at some point I need a more long term supported solution, hence why I am trying to do this in model builder.

So the problem was on my end not ESRI software. Here is what I did to achieve the desired result. Please see attached image.

Basically, you select something in ArcMap using the Editor Selection Tool, then run this model.

I am looking into how to make this more intuitive and interactive and when I figure out how and if this is even possible I will let you know. Hope this helps.
