ArcGIS Server 10.0 Measure Tool Issue

Has anyone experienced the measure tool randomly jumping from the desired path?I have been using ArcGIS Server for quite some time and I have never seen the measure tool behave this way. I have added some screenshots for examples. The other base tools work as expected and the initial click lands where it is intended. 

In the first image the line was intended to go from east to west but for some reason has gone southeast instead.

In the second image I try to measure the area of the NE-SW runways and you can see my results

Currently I am using IE9 and I have found that using Firefox the problem does not exist but not all of my users have/want Firefox.
