What is GeoAnalytics for Fabric?

GeoAnalytics for Fabric will deliver more than 180 spatial functions and tools for seamlessly weaving location intelligence into your analytics workflow using notebooks in the Fabric data science and engineering environments to generate powerful insights driving your decision making.

In Fabric, you will be able to access geospatial data from your lakehouse, data warehouse, or via web services such as Esri’s ArcGIS Online. Most common geospatial formats will be recognized, including shapefiles, geodatabases, GeoParquet, GeoJSON, and Esri feature services – including the diverse resources in the Esri ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World.

Resources for getting started

The GeoAnalytics for Fabric library is included in the Fabric 1.3 Runtime.  The library will be available for importing and use once a tenant administrator has enabled the library within the Fabric Runtime (go to Settings > Admin Portal > Tenant Settings to enable ArcGIS GeoAnalytics in Fabric Runtime (preview)).

When the library is enabled, getting started is as simple as an import statement

import geoanalytics_fabric

After that, the sky is the limit.  We have extensive documentation to help you get started with bringing spatial into your workflows in Fabric.  Here are some great resources to get started:

  • Developer documentation – The developer documentation provides a comprehensive list of the functions and tools available in GeoAnalytics for Fabric.  It also includes background on “core concepts” related to working with and analyzing spatial data.
  • API guide – The API reference provides additional details on the ArcGIS GeoAnalytics API
  • ArcGIS GeoAnalytics for Microsoft Fabric - Microsoft Fabric documentation related to the integration, including instructions on enabling the library for use and working with it in the Fabric environment
