Good morning, Ethics Community.
Last summer, while attending the Esri UC, I began development of an idea for a Philosophy of GIS Special Interest Group. In discussions with other professionals, academic geographers and philosophers, the idea seems to have some traction.
Does anyone have interest in digging deeper into the idea and helping develop a 'platform?' My thoughts, initially, are that the Group would include general Epistemological content on knowledge management, information hierarchy, and some of the nuanced elements of knowledge theory surrounding geospatial data and information, as well as Ethics and the pros and cons of technological progress.
I have a draft abstract that I'm willing to share.
Any interest or additional thoughts? I'd love to get some additional feedback and see if this is something we can carry forward. Thank you!
