As GIS professionals, we often invest a lot of time in sharpening our technical expertise—whether it’s ArcGIS Pro, Python, spatial analysis, or building web apps. But in practice, I’ve noticed that soft skills can make just as much of a difference.
Skills like clear communication, effective presentation, time management, and understanding client needs often determine how well our work is received and how impactful our projects become.
In my experience, being able to translate spatial insights into simple, actionable messages for non-technical stakeholders has been just as important as the analysis itself.
