I am teaching high school geography and am including GIS.  I have taken an online class on ArcGIS Pro and bought a textbook.  But the Pro version is not going to work for me since I can't get the pro version on all of my student's laptops due to the bureaucracy.  So now I am starting from scratch with the online version which despite what everyone say is significantly different from the Pro version.  I was hoping this textbook, "Intro to Human Geography: Using ArcGIS Online" would include exercises and worksheets I could use in class.  But a quick look after buying it from Amazon makes it look like just another Geography Textbook.  Please convince me otherwise since I really need the help.

Hi Glenn,

There is a downloadable set of exercises that use interactive maps to enhance the concepts covered in the book. These exercises can be accessed here. Additionally, students receive a code that provides a Student Use license with the purchase of the book (or e-book when purchased from from VitalSource). This allows them to acquire fundamental skills in map making and analysis, along with a traditional human geography text.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Craig

Hi Glenn,

The Esri MOOCs might be useful.  I believe subscribing to the training also covers licensing in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro depending on which course.  Although they are only available at certain times in the year.

Luckily the 'Going places with Spatial Analysis' course seems to be starting very soon and you (and your students) could register for it.  A nice email to the Esri team (do a search on the forum for 'MOOC') might also potentially open some over avenues for materials etc.

I was on the verge of returning the book, but now I see what you have done.  This should be useful to me.  Thank you.
