Search Not Returning Results

Hello, I recently setup a geoportal v1.1.1 
I was able to add content using the desktop publish client and I can see and search the metadata in the admin tab, I can also use the browse tab to find and display meta data.
The problem is that the search tab doesn't give any results.

One easy thing to check for is whether you have changed the status of the published record on the Administration tab from "posted" to "approved."  The metadata will be discovered in the search results if it has "approved" status.
