Abstract
In 2017, the Malawi National Statistical Office (NSO) in collaboration with the Regional Center for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) conducted a census mapping exercise to delineate the entire country into Enumeration Areas (EAs) ahead of the 2018 Population and Housing Census. At the end of the exercise, over 25,000 maps needed to be produced and printed in order to be used by enumerators conducting the national census. A PyQt-based application powered by ArcPy was developed to enable NSO personnel to efficiently and accurately produce and print the maps with a click of a button. This presentation will explore the customization that went into the application, and discuss the success and challenges encountered.
