Default ORDER BY clause for FeatureLayer

Dear Esri JS/ REST team,

could you please expose in JS API the FeatureLayer method to specify the order by clause accompanied by queryDefinition ? That would allow developers to better control the order of features returned by the server without implementing GraphicLayers/QueryTask/Query and symbology.
