Hi all,
I would like to do reverse geocoding on my ArcGIS Pro and would like to check if it is possible to use geonames locator for the purpose.
My aim is to look for the address for any point in my country. I have downloaded the zip. for geonames and have run the first tool i.e.Load Geonames File. However, whenever I click on the "Create Geonames Gazetteer Locator" tool, i get the message that the tool failed to open.
Does anyone know why I am unable to open the tool?
Thanks!!
Jazz,
We are currently looking into this issue further. Currently we have tested this solution against ArcGIS Pro 2.1 and we have seen the same issue that you outlined above with opening the toolbox in ArcGIS Pro 2.1; however, the issue lives with the tool in the ArcGIS Pro toolbox. If you add the ArcMap toolbox to your ArcGIS Pro project and use that toolbox to add the Geonames solution capabilities you should not have a problem using this solution.
If this did not help you in your workflow please let me know.
Hi everybody,
I am running ito the same issue like Jazz with ArcGIS Pro 2.1.2 (see screenshot).
Is there any outlook when this issue is going to be fixed as this is a supported solution and many users certainly won´t get back on ArcMap when they have already switched to Pro.
Thanks,
Sebastian
Sebastian,
We are currently developing an updated solution to support future versions of ArcGIS Pro. The current work around stated above should give you the ability to use the ArcMap toolbox in ArcGIS Pro to leverage the desired outcome.
Steps to use the workaround:
Of note if you use this work around the ArcMap toolbox will no longer work in ArcMap. Make sure to make a copy of this toolbox to allow you to still work in ArcMap.
Hi Lyle,
is there any further news about the announced update of the Geonames Locator solution, that users have not to switch back to ArcMap for creating a Geonames Gazetteer Locator? The last update of this solution was done in Sept 17 so I am not sure if this issue still exists?
Thanks
Sebastian
