Weighted Buffer

Hi there, I'm trying to create a buffer along just one side of a river.  Any thoughts on how to do this?  Thanks!

If your river is a line (not polygon), you can choose LEFT or RIGHT under Side Type in the Buffer tool..

Thanks for the response.  It is a polyline, but I should have mentioned that the buffer tool doesn't allow me to select a Side Type.  I guess I don't have the full license.  So I'm looking for an improvised way to do this.

Any thoughts on how to get around the limitations of my license?  An improvised way to get a one-sided buffer?
