Well Jared, you have given us very little to go on. An educated guess is that you only downloaded a single tile in your designated area. The NED data is stored in tiles. When you submit a request to the server it sends you a link for each tile within the specified extent, You then have to project and mosaic the tiles. Based on the shape and size of the DEM in your screen grab it looks like only a single tile.
