Hi,
I am in the process of copying over our geodatabases from our SQL 2005 server to a newer SQL2008R2 server.  This is in preparation to move our clients to from 9.3.1 to 10.1.  Unfortunately our Geodatabase version is 9.2.  When I try to upgrade the geodatabase to at least 9.3(?) from ArcCatalog 9.3.1, the upgrade states it is available but the button is greyed out.  Perhaps I have missed something on the database server, but I am in sysadmin role for all databases on the server.

Does anyone have any thoughts of things I can check?

Thanks,
Josh

Josh,

You cannot upgrade the sde geodatabase from 9.2 to 9.3.1 using the ArcCatalog 9.3.1 interface. You must use the ArcSDE 9.3.1 Post Installation Wizard to upgrade the geodatabases to 9.3.1 first.
http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisdesktop/9.3/index.cfm?TopicName=Upgrade_summary_for_ArcSDE_geodatabase...

After the sde geodatabases are at 9.3.1, you can connect from ArcCatalog 10.1 and upgrade to 10.1 from there.

The functionality to upgrade sde geodatabase using ArcCatalog interface started 10.0 onwards.

Hope this helps!
