Hi,
I am new to ArcSDE. I installed ArcSDE and successfully created the SDE geodatabase with DBO schema. But I am unable to create feature or geodata service. I tried to create MXD, MSD services through ArcMap publisher, ArcCatalog and ArcGIS server manager (.NET). It gives following error.

Configuration firesdetest.MapServer can not be started.
Server Object instance creation failed on machine parikshitgisser.

The Layer:'firetest' in Map:'Layers' is invalid.

Any suggestions would help.
Thanks

pkranade,

Did you solve this problem.  I'm running into the same issue.

Thanks

Hi Christine

You should remember that the publisher is the ArcSOC owner (usually ArcSOC account).
If the MXD that you publish contain OS authentication you must make sure this user can connect to ArcSDE.
If you use database authentication you must make sure the password is saved in the MXD.

Have Fun
