Well, what do you all think.
What are some situations when you would convert your rasters into an image compression format like .sid?
Are there reasons why you would not do this?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using an image compression format within the 10.1 environment?
I have used Raster Catalogs, and imported my Rasters into a File Geodatabase. Used each of these in ArcGIS Desktop 10.1, seems .sid loads faster and refreshes faster during zoom in/out compared to using Geodatabase Rasters. Hence, I am wondering why not just use .sid all the time?
