Subtracting from Shape File....

I have a shapefile that I created, but I need to remove a section out of it. How do you do a subtraction in ArcView? I have tried doing a clip but it wants to remove other features that I want to keep. I want to only affect the area within this shapefile only.

I have figured it out, well found a work around. I actually downloaded XTools Pro and used the delete feature function.
