hopefully someone has the answer to this question. i have been exporting data from cad via shp files to arc 10. i imported points and labled them. yjr labels for these hit perfectly where i needed them too. next were the polgon shp files. i bring in the shp file, export data and add it as a new layer after creating attribute tables. then when i label the polygons, the labels are hitting everywhere. there is no pattern that i can tell. most of the time they don't even appear. however, at different zoom levels they appear but aren't even close to the polygon they belong too. i have checked the export coord system and it is the same system as my arc file.

question is, why aren't my labels hitting inside the polygons like i want and how do i fix this problem. it's really irritating.

I don't know what is happening, but you might use the Check and Repair Geometry tools to see if anything is reported. Possibly also check whether you have have multipart polygons. That could cause labels to show up in odd places.
