Ok, please bare with me...I do not have english as my native language!

The question!

I need to figure out how to import data to a attribute table with some conditions, meaning....example, I have let say 50 points made in a shapefile layer, I would like to import data from a excel sheet to them!

Ok, so to the part I do not understand, how do you make it happen IF the data from the imported excel sheet NEEDS to dictate the color of the point! Lets say IF the data have the number 5 or less..the point turns red, if the data have the 6 or more the point turns yellow....and so on! Also it needs to be different conditions to each point!

SO, again, I put 50/500/5000 points to a map.....import excel data/information to ArcMap and then JOIN the tables, then by "magic" depending on the values in the excelsheet my points will change color depending what condition I will give it?!?

Hope somebody understood my questions and can help me....

Regards from cold Sweden

Hi Mattias,

For setting the colors (called symbology in ArcGIS) you need to use the Layer Properties window > Symbology tab. There you can define how the points will be shown on the map based on the values you have joined to them using the Excel sheet.

The Help page with detailed instructions.

Good luck!
