Re-Assign FID number?

I am outputting PDF's and I need them to be sorted on an alphabetically ordered field instead of the FID number.
Is there a way to Re-Calculate FID numbers so they are sequential based on the sort of an alphabitized field (without corrupting the records)? Or, is there a way to export the PDF so its sorted on a desired field?
