Problem exporting from Mosaic Dataset

I'm getting some odd results when exporting from a mosaic dataset to a .tif (haven't tried other formats). When exporting the (large) mosaic dataset to a .tif, there are big chunks missing, and the parts that do show up have missing data near the edges that looks like Landsat 7 (best description I have). I've tried it with smaller exports, and smaller ones work, but I do get it at ~3.7 miles to a side (80,000 pixels), which is still small for the area I'm trying to export.

For Raster Storage settings, I'm building default level of pyramids, bilinear, TIFs have internal jp2 compression at 75% quality. <--Edit: I don't know if they are really getting compressed, they are still huge even for grayscale

Are there limits to the size of exported .tifs from mosaic datasets or is there something else causing the errors?

Bryce,

You might like to check the properties of the mosaic data set. Go to the Defaults tab on the Mosaic dataset properties. There are two things I look at here. 1) Maximum Size of requests and 2) Maximum number of rasters per mosic. By default Maximum Size of requests is 4100, 15000 and the Maximum number of rasters is 20. I usually configure these to be larger than these default values and it fixes these type of issues. The other thing is you say you are setting the compression to jP2 but you don't say the compression factor. I usually set this to JPEG 70% compression.

Thanks Gordon, I'm still having problems even setting those values higher (I think there was only marginal improvement if any).

The mosaic dataset I'm trying to export is 433,120 columns, 348,640 rows, 3-inch resolution. According to the footprint table there are 2805 rasters (including overviews). There are 2526 source rasters.

In the Defaults, I set maximum size of requests to 500,000 rows and columns. Maximum # of rasters per mosaic: 3,000. Maximum Number of Records Returned: 3,000. Maximum Number of items Downloadable per Request: 3,000.

The JP2 compression I'm using is 75%. I assume the settings above would work, but the test images I'm making of smaller areas still show the errors. I'll keep experimenting, but exporting takes a while, even on the smaller areas. Do you have any suggestions based on the info above?

Cheers,
Bryce

Here's an example of what I'm seeing after the export, if it can help.
